Overview

CodeBuddy is Tencent Cloud's AI coding tool, formerly the Tencent Cloud AI Code Assistant, upgraded in 2025 into a full agentic form with its Craft mode: it understands the codebase, breaks down development tasks, and completes multi-file changes autonomously, with hooks into Tencent Cloud deployment. It ships as both an IDE plugin and a standalone IDE, with Hunyuan, DeepSeek, and other models available. Its signature scenario is the China developer ecosystem — WeChat mini programs and Tencent Cloud deployment pipelines. Compared with Trae, CodeBuddy integrates more deeply with Tencent's enterprise services; compared with Qoder, it is lighter with somewhat shallower repo-level understanding. Good fit for teams on Tencent Cloud or building for WeChat mini programs. The international edition runs separately; data residency depends on the edition used.
